2017 Citywide Kwanzaa Celebration – Zawadi event for children

During this Zawadi event children will leave with a Kwanzaa gift made by their own hands. Children and parents will discuss the value of making more than buying a gift, while also learning some Kiswahili. Come out, create, and celebrate the principles of Kwanzaa! Followed by Lighting the Kinara - A Celebration of the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa. The Mifflin Middle School Choir will lead us in singing the Black National Anthem. Principle of the day Ujima - Collective Work and Responsibility - Its Kwanzaa Storytime! Children and parents are invited to be mesmerized by notable Columbus storytellers, Lyn Ford, T. Graves, Rory Rennick, Annette Jefferson, Queen Najla, the Village Watoto Storytellers, and Robin Holland. Robin Holland will facilitate a parent/child writing workshop preceding  the storytelling program. The workshop is limited to the first 20 families that register by calling 205-7681. The registration deadline is December 20, 2017.
